I'LL BE BACK SHORTLY

First I have to finish reading a book.  While I have been reading like a fiend, I have failed to write reviews on those books I've finished.

Am I the only one who cannot write a review of a book after I start my next book?  Once I start my next read, I do not have the same emotional attachment to my last book that I need to write a really good review.

One of those strange but true facts about BookBelle.

  1. No you're not the only one. I'm like that too. I like to write a review before I fully give myself to the next book.

    1. Juju - if it is just the two of us like this, I'll never feel alone again. BB

  2. I try not to do this - it's not a strict rule I set myself, but I don't feel the reviews are as good if I start them when I'm already reading something else.

  3. You're not alone in this. I definitely prefer to write up a review for a book before I move on to the next one. At the very least, I write down my all thoughts and notes on a piece of paper so that I have those things in mind when I get a chance to write the actual review.

    1. Probably I could do that - write down the notes. I'm going to try that next time. Thanks!

  4. Love your new blog look--I've always liked that image.

I find that if I don't review a book right away, whether I've started something else new or not, it is less likely to get reviewed at all. Then, too, sometimes I read a book so far ahead of its pub date that I think that my review would have more impact if I wait until it's closer to the pub date--but I never seem to have time to write reviews and schedule them for a future post. I barely have time to do more timely posts.

    Alas.

  5. I'm the same way! I used to be quite good at making sure I reviewed one before moving onto the next but I have a lot more time to read right now as I have an hour train ride (an hour each way) to get to work where I also have an hour lunch. And since I get home later in the evening, I don't always want to sit in front of my computer and write! I'll get the hang of it one of these days. :)

    1. Yes - I was reading like crazy but then I'd finish when I was somewhere besides by my computer and wanted to start another one right away and it has just gotten out of hand. I am going to review this next one immediately!

  6. It is definitely harder to write the review after you've started another book. I'm also trying to do better in writing them directly after I've finished reading!

    1. I know cuz I got a little scared as I kept reading and not writing. What if I just stop blogging all together?!?

  7. No you're not, I'm the same! Although sometimes it takes me a pretty long time to write them, which is not good for my reading :(

  8. I *try* to write a review immediately but...well you know how that goes! I've taken to writing up very quick thoughts on library books. I save the longer ones for review books ;) That has helped!

  9. yes yes yes! I'm the same way! Back when I did my novella challenge I thought that writing a review a day was going to be the hard part...turns out it is SO much easier to blab about a book when it's the freshest thing on your mind. :)

  10. I have the same problem, which is why I try to jot down notes as I read. Makes it easier to write the review a week or so later!

  11. I love your new look. I can understand the attachment issue. I don't have any excuse. I'm just lazy.
