Time Devoted to Reading
As much as possible, and at least some, all 7 days.
My Goals
- To turn off the TV and read;
- To actively use my very inactive Twitter account to participate in Bout of Book chats;
- To participate in all the challenges;
- To finish 2 books by the end of the read-a-thon.
Books to Read
- Persuasion by Jane Austen
- Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel
- Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
Updates
Monday
Number of PAGES read today: 19 (that's less than when I don't even try to read!)
Books I read from today: Bring Up the Bodies
Number of BOOKS finished: 0
Challenges: I belly-flopped on challenges today.
Goals: I would have turned off the TV had it not been for The Bachelor starting; I would have participated in the challenge had Monday not smacked me in the face like a brick wall; I would have participated in the Twitter challenge if I had not been working. There's always tomorrow.
Tuesday
Number of PAGES read today:41 (Not what I was hoping for but an improvement)
Books I read from today: Bring Up the Bodies and Persuasion
Number of BOOKS finished: 0
Challenges: I'm finding myself too tired to do the challenges after work.
Goals: TV still did not stay off because I finished watching the Bachelor; see above regarding challenges; there wasn't a Twitter chat today. I'm certain Wednesday is going to be better.
Wednesday
Number of PAGES read today: 30 (Is there a prize for the least amount of pages read?)
Books I read from today: Persuasion
Number of BOOKS finished: 0
Challenges: I may need to give myself permission to let the challenges go.
Goals: I only watched one episode of Giuliana and Bill last night; Missed Twitter on account of being the driver mom last night. I CANNOT Twitter and Drive. Seriously, I think Thursday is going to be my day.
Thursday
Number of PAGES read today:86 pages (that's more like it)!
Books I read from today: Persuasion and Bring Up the Bodies
Number of BOOKS finished: 0
Challenges: Challenges are an impossibility if I am going to read 86 pages.
Goals: Much better. I was able to read all night and I love when that happens. But, if I read all night, I have to sacrifice all blogging and twittering. I'm still looking for a happy balance.
Friday
Number of PAGES read today: 26 (This is getting downright silly - my attempts at finishing a book).
Books I read from today: Bring Up the Bodies
Number of BOOKS finished: 0
Challenges: Skip challenges.
Goals: Instead of reading, I spent time with my boys. We ate at a restaurant and went to Game Stop and then my hub finally got home from work and we had to catch up on our work weeks and then I fell into bed exhausted. The good news? I will finish Bring up the Bodies today. It has not been the best choice for a readathon read. Saturday, here I come!
Saturday
Number of PAGES read today:83 pages
Books I read from today: Bring Up the Bodies and Me Before You
Number of BOOKS finished: 1
Challenges: None, goose egg.
Goals: My goal had become to finish that very complex Bring Up the Bodies that I was reading and I did that. Overall, I've had a pretty normal reading week, and I don't think that I will ever really get more read in my present state of affairs, and I'm okay with that. I think ultimately I want to read 8 books a month or 2 a week with a few extra thrown in to hit my 100 mark. This readathon has helped me to clarify my reading style post college textbooks.
Sunday
Number of PAGES read today:188 pages (I wish I could have a few more of these kinds of reading days).
Books I read from today: Me Before You
Number of BOOKS finished: 0
Challenges: Complete Challenge Loser.
Goals: In the end, I did read every day, I did turn off the t.v. more than usual, I did experiment with Twitter at least a little bit and I missed my goal of reading 2 books by 0.5 of a book. Not bad. I'm happy to have participated.
TOTAL PAGES READ THIS WEEK: 453 pages. Not bad at all.

This is great!! I am cheering you on!
ReplyDeleteGood luck and have fun!
ReplyDeleteMonday was a rough day for me too. I hope you like Me Before You, I was going to look for that at the library today!
ReplyDelete"There's always tomorrow" Nice saying, Monday was pretty shabby for me too. Good luck for the rest of the week though :)

Lauren
Go Belle, Go Belle! You can do it hon! I always see these posts and want to join. I'll have to think about jumping in next go round!
ReplyDeletePersuasion is such a lovely book! But if you're stuck on a book, maybe switch to a different one? Still plenty of time to get lots of reading done! Good luck with the rest of the Bout! :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, it wouldn't be a good idea to Tweet and Drive, LOL! I bet Thursday will be your day :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope you are able to find a little more time to read this weekend so you can accomplish some of your goals!
ReplyDeleteGreat job though, its not about how many pages you read it is about having fun!
Happy reading
