IT'S MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING?

brought to us by Book Journey

The Awakening by Kate Chopin (Show Pan).  I will be starting this today.  I understand that this book was so shocking to Ms. Chopin's readership in the late 1800's that she never again in her lifetime found a publisher for her works.  My version of the book has a cover that shows the protagonist offering up one of her tatas.  I wonder if it has anything to do with that?

Domestic Violets by Matthew Norman.  A surprisingly funny book about modern man with all the trappings of modern office, smart, sexy wife, sassy daughter and drunk father.  It's a good one!

The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis.  Me and my seventh grade boy are reading this one together.  He's quite intrigued and we've committed to the rest of the series.

As you can see, we crack each other up and we are having a ton of fun using funny voices for Digory, The Queen and Uncle Andrew.

Have a good reading week!

  1. I've never read anything other than Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe. Two of the others in the series are also on the 1001 Children's Books You Must Read list, so I hope to read them some day.

  2. That's so lovely that you are reading the Narnia books with your son. When I first read them I read them my mum was reading them at the same time too. My dad started them as well but he got distracted half way through and didn't finish (not unusual for him to lose interest in a genre or series like that).

  6. I'll be interested in your reaction to The Awakening. I read it this past year. Keep women's issues in the back of your mind while reading it. I'm reading The Feminine Mystique right now, and I'm having interesting discussions with my WEM reading group.
