While my town dries out of record-setting, epic flooding from Hurricane Irene, let me ask you:
What’s your book with weather events? Hurricanes? Tornadoes? Blizzards? Real? Fiction? Doesn’t matter … weather comes up a lot in books, so there’s got to be a favorite somewhere, huh?
Not the type to dwell on any one topic for too long, the first two that come to mind are the Iron Lake series of books by William Kent Krueger and Johnstown Flood by David McCullough. The first is a series that takes place in Northern Minnesota. And those Minnesotans sure do like to talk about their weather! The other has been on my TBR list for, like, forever. And, truly, it's not really about weather as much as the elements.
What a good question!
ReplyDeleteGood one this week. I can't think of one off the top of my head. Hmmm. will need some more thought on this one.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear that you were hit by Irene! I hope things are drying out!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite weather books:
The Children's Blizzard by David Laskin
and (don't laugh)
The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder, which incidentally is part of the same blizzard that the Children's Blizzard is about!
