WHY I LOVE WEDNESDAYS... CHILDREN'S BOOK(S)

I couldn't pass this one up.  Not only do I have my favorite children's book(s),  My sons and I discovered new favorites when they were babies.

My favorites:

Go, Dog. Go! (I Can Read It All By Myself Beginner Books)Clifford The Big Red Dog (Clifford 8x8)Little House in the Big Woods Book and Charm (Charming Classics)

Go Dog Go was the first book I read and I still find myself quoting from it at odd times!  "Do you like my hat?"

Clifford The Big Red Dog, I remember because it was the first book I got in 2nd grade from the Scholastic book order.  There was nothing like book day in class when the teacher would hand out our new books.

Little House in the Big Woods  I fondly remember because I remember my big brother coming over on the holidays and laying on the couch with me to read it aloud.  Just good memories I guess.

No Jumping on the Bed!Blueberries for SalFarmyard Tales Storybook (Usborne Farmyard Tales)

These three, No Jumping on the Bed, Blueberries for Sal, Farmyard Tales Storybook are the three that I read over and over to my boys.  In No Jumping on the Bed, I changed the names in the story to their names and for years they thought that their names were really part of the story ;-)

I think in Blueberries for Sal, the bear stole the show.  This was my younger son's favorite book for a long time.

Farmyard Tales was one of those books that hid a ducky on every page.  We spent hours looking for those ducks.  I bet if I took that book out today, My teenagers would hop on the couch with me and look for the duckies.  I'll try it tonight.

P.S. We read the entire set of Laura Ingalls Wilder books to them when they were in 2nd and 3rd grade.  They still talk about those books and quote from them often.

Thanks for giving me a chance to relive my best days, Alexis!

  2. Oooo, I can't wait to be able to read to my son! He's too young at the moment. While he loves looking at picture books, and spends a lot of time with them, he loses interest the moment I sit with him and begin telling him about the pictures.:-/ ....I haven't read any of the books you've mentioned. Though Clifford used to be a cartoon, right? I recall watching it as a child.

    Such lovely memories!!:)

  5. Wow you are so awesome!! I Loved Clifford and I loved when my mom read to me. She used to use these crazy voices that made me giggle. Things like this really stick with you as you grow up. I also have many friends who tell me they were never read to when they were little. Never?! It isn't necessarily a given. I think it is awesome that you did for your boys and I hope to do the same when it is my turn.

  6. Lol I read your weather blog before this one! Check out my comment there about weather books I like. ;)

I love all the Little House books, such a fan. I still read them! Other children's books I loved were Blueberries for Sal, The Poky Little Puppy, and Owl Moon. A new one that I love is Zen Shorts.
