BOOKING THROUGH THURSDAY

Brought to us by Booking Through Thursday

You’ve just had a long, hard, exhausting day, and all you want to do is curl up with something light, fun, easy, fluffy, distracting, and entertaining.  What book do you pick up?

Three authors immediately come to mind.  There are probably more current authors that could do the same for me but it's been a while since I've sought out fluffy, distracting and entertaining.

Bless Your Heart, Tramp: And Other Southern EndearmentsWe're Just Like You, Only Prettier: Confessions of a Tarnished Southern BelleYou Can't Drink All Day If You Don't Start in the MorningSuck Your Stomach In and Put Some Color On!: What Southern Mamas Tell Their Daughters that the Rest of Y'all Should Know Too

You can't really go wrong with Celia Rivenbark.  Her titles alone make me giggle!

I Love Everybody (and Other Atrocious Lies): True Tales of a Loudmouth GirlThe Idiot Girls' Action-Adventure Club: True Tales from a Magnificent and Clumsy LifeWe Thought You Would Be Prettier: True Tales of the Dorkiest Girl AliveIt Looked Different on the Model: Epic Tales of Impending Shame and Infamy

Ditto for Laurie Notaro.  Funny titles will pull me in every time.

 Bet Me

I also recently discovered Jennifer Crusie.   Bet Me was a very fun and funny book and all the shoes were fabulous.

  4. I've never heard of any of these. I like the titles but (and it's a big one) are they chic lit (yes, I really did ask that because I have problems with that genre)?

  5. They are all new to me, but look like fun reads. I lean toward light romance when I am tired or in a reading slump.

  6. Love those Celia Rivenbark titles and they look kind of old school. Will have to look into them when I need to have some humor in my books

  15. You are so right!! Fluffy distracting books are sometimes a necessity! I will have to add Rivenbark and Notaro to my lists to read. I love Jennifer Cruisie (most of the time.) :)
