IT'S MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING?

Brought to us by Book Journey

WHAT I FINISHED:

Wicked Lovely (Wicked Lovely (Quality))

I gave this a 5 star rating.  Read my review HERE.

WHAT I'M READING NOW:

P.S. I Love You

I am not sure how I missed this author for so long (pub. date 2005) but I am in extreme author love.  I ordered 3 more of her books off of Paperback Swap last night.  Ahern was only 21 when she wrote this book - Amazing.

NEXT UP:
Ink Exchange (Wicked Lovely (Quality))Dirty Little AngelsLove, Rosie

It's really where my mood and whim takes me this week.  Ink Exchange is a strong contender because Wicked Lovely was so good.  I owe Chris Tusa a review of Dirty Little Angels, an ARC, and Love Rosie was ordered off of PBS and if I get it, I may continue on with my author love affair with Cecelia Ahern.

When you read the first book in a new-to-you series, are you compelled to keep reading through the whole series or do you save the next book for just the right moment?  How do you handle author-love?  Do you read everything you can get your hands on right now or do you savor the books over a year or years?

  1. Hello Belle! I had a severe case of author love a few years ago - practically a certifiable obsession. It was for Lawrence Durrell, very successful in the 1950s-60s with The Alexandria Quartet. But it was his life and other books about living on Mediterranean islands that drew me in, and the fact that so many of his friends, like Henry Miller and Anais Nin had written books in which he appeared so that it was possible to piece together a huge literary picture of him. His brother Gerald wrote the much-loved My Family and Other Animals - featuring "Larry" the hilariously pompous young writer on Corfu. I now have three bookshelves devoted entirely to his books and connected books.

Anyway, the obsession was so bad that I ended up dropping what I was already doing, and writing a novel about biography and memory and connections, with Lawrence Durrell firmly at the heart. It was published in the UK in 2008 and it's called Songs of Blue and Gold.

  2. Deborah - Thanks for sharing! I love this story. I feel a little bit of a Eudora Welty passion coming on as you explain above with Lawrence Durrell. I am definitely going to be looking that Lawrence here to see if I can identify your passion. I love your story.

  6. I think I'm only person who hasn't read Wicked Lovely yet, but it is high on my TBR pile. :)
When I find an author I love I become a bit obsessive. If other books in that series are out I have to read them before I'll pick up anything else. And if I can't get my hands on the book I almost always end up looking up spoilers online. It's pretty sad.

  7. It's been quite a while since I really fell in love with an author enough to make me want to read all his/her books right away. I'm much more likely to save books for "just the right moment." There are too many other books and authors out there, tempting me away. Happy reading this week!
