IF YOU HAVEN'T YET READ THE WICKED LOVELY SERIES BUT WOULD LIKE TO ONE DAY, GO HERE
AND CALL IT A DAY.
Published: 2008
It's about a few minor characters from Wicked Lovely. Leslie is one of Aislinn's best friends and Irial is the King of the Dark Court. Niall is the Summer King's guard and good friend. Leslie has been given a rough life. She is looking for a fresh start and believes that getting a tattoo will signify the beginning of a new life for her. This is the story of an addict that seeks pain free, emotionless living. It is also a story of strength and courage it takes to make the right choice.
I thought it was a good bit darker than the first book. Leslie's life has been rough and she only wants to stop feeling such intense pain and emotion. There were some scenes that were so very sad to read of a girl lost. It is a bit graphic (imho) to be considered a YA book - if YA means my teenager is going to read it.
Reading Recommendation: Definitely! The series is turning out to be a winner. Marr's faery world is one to get lost in.
Favorite Excerpt: "My lovely Shadow Girl. Almost mine...."
Rating: It misses a 5 only because it is a very dark novel - almost too dark to be YA.

I loved this book although have yet to read the next one. Definitely darker than the first.
ReplyDeleteI read it when it came out in the UK and I really loved it. But you are right, it is very dark - the novella Marr wrote later helps to lighten the mood a bit in the end though.
